JANUARY 2010!

January brings much fun and discovery for our family. Gus is taking swim lessons and is like a fishy in the water (unless he is tired!) He is sitting up on his own, but still needs someone to catch him when he all of a sudden decides he's had enough. He really likes bananas these days, as you can see in this photo. Also, he enjoys playing his little piano and bangs on it like a virtuoso. And if it is possible, he just keeps getting cuter and sweeter every day!

Christmas in Huntersville

We spent Christmas day with our family in Huntersville - Aunt Mur, Uncle John, cousins Cassie and Sam, my Aunt Jo and cousin Clint. We had a houseful and it was very festive. Gus wore out early and needed a nap - he opened his gifts later in the day. I wonder how Santa knew to visit two houses?

Christmas Eve

Since we are blessed with lots of family nearby, we had TWO Christmas celebrations. We spent Christmas Eve with Grammy, Grandpa and Uncle Willie here in Asheville. Gus has a blast playing with the decorations and his new toys. Santa knew Gus had been a very good boy....

EATING FOOD!

The many faces of Gus eating. He likes it!

December was also when Gus turned six months old and started eating "solid" food. His first bites were of cereal and he took to it right away. On Christmas he tried his first veggie - sweet potatoes. He now also enjoys peas, squash, bananas, pears, apples and avocado (jury's still out on this one). Everyday is a new adventure for Gus...mommy and daddy, too!

Nana and Pop Come to Visit

Nana and Pop came to visit in December and were snowed in with us! We had fun and Gus kept us plenty entertained. When we were finally able to get out and about, we joined up with the McBrides at a local eatery. What a handsome family we have!

December Days

December was a month of firsts. We had a foot+ of snow the week before Christmas and were actually snowed in for a few days. We stayed cozy inside but couldn't resist bundling Gus up and seeing his reaction to the winter wonderland outside. He was our little snow angel!

More from November

We had a visit from Aunt Mur and cousins Sam and Cassie. We went to Fun Depot to play games, go on rides and run around. You can see Uncle Jason and Sam riding go-carts! I love the picture of Sam reading to Gus for the first time. We are so happy to have family nearby.

Thanksgiving 2009

Gus had a great first Thanksgiving with his in-town grandparents and Uncle Willie. He was dressed for the occassion as you can see. Gus sat at the table with us and practiced using his spoon and fork. He wasn't eating solids at this point. Next year Thanksgiving will be another story.....
